Week 2 Pop Culture

 I found the slideshow interesting because I was able to see similarities and differences with my peers. I was honestly shocked to see that most of my classmates said they could go a whole day without social media. I know I could too if I really tried but recently life has been so dull and boring I find myself digging for some type of excitement on social media. I also personally feel like today’s society revolves around social media and I miss the times when it wasn't the main focus. 


I think the article did a good job at expressing this as well. They mention many issues with our generation and how we get stuck in a mindset and don't ask questions to expand our minds, it's like we accept things as enough and forget. He mentions an article that the way we think about things matters and I hundred percent agree, we need to strive to know more, we should never stop asking questions. There is never enough knowledge. Finally, some things I want to write about the semester would be music, fashion, and social media.

    I agree with your shock about social media! I was also surprised to see the results of the high amount of people that could go without social media for a day!

Second Source

 My second source for the "crazy woman" trope paper is the movie "The Girl on the Train." I think this movie shows in a different light but dramatic enough a "crazy woman." This is a story of a woman post-divorce life, everyday on her way to work she passes by her old house where her ex-husband now lives with his new wife and family. She attempts to not think about her pain and focuses on a couple a few houses down from her old one. She makes up this dream life for them in her head and one day as the train passes she sees the woman with a different man. This filled her with rage and the next day she wakes up hungover, in pain with bruises and wounds and a feeling like something bad had happened. The woman she saw was also announced as a missing person. Think Piece 2

  Rebecca Jennings, 26 from Brooklyn, New York. Decided to try all the best things. Her main question was would these things improve her life? Coming to a small surprise her answer was yes, these things actually did improve her life. Although there's more to her story, Rebecca felt the pressure of being someone she was not during this experiment. She felt it was hard to keep up with the expectations of being perfect. At the end of her article, she mentions how she “is relieved that I can finally stop faking it.” Not comparing this article to my personal life, there are some similarities. I feel I find myself caring about what's on-trend and wanting to keep up with those things. I feel I definitely go through random splurges of spending a lot of money on unnecessary things.
