More often the information you read about human trafficking is not as close to true as you would think. I think that is one reason Dan has such an issue with people being trafficked online, it tends to be very inaccurate. They mentioned the whole Wayfair dispute and how kids were being trafficked through selling furniture. I remember hearing about this through Tiktok actually, it was everywhere for a while and people were posting a bunch of conspiracy theories about it. I really thought this was 100% true when I first read into it.
I think that with social media and the fact that everyone basically believes what they see on the internet these days, the misleading and false information being surfaced and spread everywhere is way more common than you would hope. I remember when I first heard that Kobe and his daughter died in a plane crash I didn't believe it until I saw it on the news because of this common problem. I thought it was fake news like most things you see on social media are.
